The Museum Prototyp in Hamburg has a lot of very rare cars that were based on Porsche mechanicals ( Porsche sold everything it could at the time, as well as factory cars:

The most important car there is the typ 64 Berlin-Rome car from 1939 and is that clear inspiration for what become Porsche after the war:. ( my 991 RS is in background:

This is the chassis of the earlier known VW in the world, now under restoration, while a Schwimmwagen sits beside Porsche's failed attempt to build a similar vehicle after the war for the German army:

There are of plenty of other Porsche collections and museum exhibits but these are very close to the origin of the brand.

The craftsmanship, the history, the way things were - amazing bit of photo-journalistic history of the Porsche legacy. Would be nice to see them all in person as you have, but the photos will have to do. Without your pictures that you've shared, I'd never even know about many of the cars, much less the museums where they are housed.

Ever considered putting together a book?

Thanks again!

Wow! What a great collection of photos. Thank you so much for posting all that! All of your posts suggest you have a very deep and special connection to Porsche. Would love to hear more about that if you were ever so inclined.

p.s., my travel wish-list just got a lot longer! :)
