Does anyone know what it might cost to install a rollcage in a 992 GTS?

A friend just had a half cage installed in his 992 GTS for about 1300 USD. It was an indie shop that does a lot of track cars, so hours and rates were less than a dealer. Highly depends on the shop, how much experience they have and their labor rates. Our dealer recently went to $320/hr so that total would be higher if done there. Sorry but I think the answer is you need to shop around to get a reasonable cost.

I had a Cantrell installed by the dealer in my new '21 718 GT4 a little over 2-yrs ago (prior to taking delivery) for roughly the same or even less than the price CDinMB mentioned. I cannot give the exact labor charge for just the half cage installation because other work was included in the labor cost on the service ticket. My tech (Porsche Gold) also removed both seats for installation of Schroth 6-points. (I also had to have the pass seat prepped for the sub-belt while the seat was out.) As part of the labor charge, he installed the harnesses (perfectly and professionally), reinstalled both seats, direct wired a V1 Gen-2 + concealed display, made some suspension adjustments I wanted and a couple of other minor things I had done. They took excellent care of me and the quality of the work was phenomenal, as it always is.
Having said that, a good indie race shop as CDinMD mentioned (we have several good ones here too who do a lot of Porsche work) would be fine. I guess a lot of the cost will depend on what part of the country you live in, competition in your area, shop experience, and how backed up with work they are.

I say at least $3000 to do it well. It has to be measured with you in the car. You'll need a HANS to work with a good helmet and a fire suit (all required here for insurance reasons).
The helmet with the HANS will mostly keep you safe. I've hit hard twice in track/racing events. It hurts and bruised my tail bone once.
Don't kid yourself that it will never happen to you. It's a good probability that it will with the speeds of a Porsche. You are a great driver but the car in front of you can spin. You are going 120 Mph.
I've seen more bad wrecks than I can explain:

The second image you posted is at the top of the front straight rise at a vintage race at Rd America in 2005, a crash that's been pictured everywhere over the years. That pic is a bit sensationalist imo. However, you're correct that crashes are part of racing. Track days on the other hand, while not without risk, are not nearly to the level of wheel-to-wheel. The same for HSR where many drivers tend to run below 100%. Too much money and value in the cars on track. Plus it's the gentleman thing for vintage car racing.
And no, it will not (or should not) cost $3,000 for the labor to install a simple pre-built half-cage in a 911 or 718. However, the half-cage itself will probably be in the $3 to $4k range not including the aforementioned labor.
On the other hand, a full SCCA spec cage will cost much more than $3k in labor simply because of the work involved in taking the car apart and properly building a full cage using high grade SS DOM materials.

Very true. I made the assumption we were talking about a bolt in half cage based on the stated 992 GTS. I further assumed track days not wheel to wheel racing since people looking to build a full race car with that new a model would probably just go the cheaper route of buying Cup car. I have a one year old quote from that same shop to strip the interior, build and install a full cage in a 991.2 for $9k. I hope I didn’t mislead anyone by not stating those assumptions the first time.

Extrapolating the other things I had done at the same time on my GT4 2-years ago, I'd say the installation of the Cantrell half-cage at the dealership was around $1,200 to $1,250.
