So tried googling for an answer but couldn’t find a direct fix. Basically yesterday went on some errands in my 2014 Cayenne Diesel. Had sunroof open and locked door so it made the usual warning tone. But when I got home, closed sunroof and when I locked the doors with the keyfob there was no beep/chirp.

It’s always made a beep prior. My 997.2 Turbo has never beeped and I wish it would.

So watched some YouTube videos about the no beep but mostly found about how to fix the warning beeps. I was unaware that the glove box or center console being open even with all the doors closed will give the warning beep when locking the doors. That however was not the problem.

Also found out (after almost 5 years of ownership no less!) that if I hold the lock button on the keyfob down, my Cayenne’s mirrors fold in. Had no idea my Cayenne even had motorized foldable mirrors :lol:

Anyway, anyone know how to fix it so the beep beep returns? The doors lock and all, just no beep/chirp.

Thanks!

I'm just the opposite - I don't want any beeps or chirps or excessive noise when I lock car doors - a slight click and the side mirrors folding in is sufficient for me. :D

However, the beeps are usually on by default so I turned them off on our Cayenne and 992 TTS using personalization in the PCM menus. Something along the lines of Car > Control > Vehicle Settings > Locking. Maybe there is a variation of that on your cars and if so, you could reverse the process. Your dealer service dept or an experienced sales associate should know. Of course, not all models have the option but I think many (or most?) do.

You also could try going through the Vehicle Settings section of your owner's manuals to see if there is any info there.

Regarding the folding mirrors, there should also be a button on the driver's side door panel switch cluster (or somewhere) that will fold both mirrors in and out.

One other item to check - if one of the doors has a failing lock actuator, you won't get a "beep" when locking. Test this by arming the alarm, then manually trying to open each of the doors (and be prepared for alarm to sound if it DOES open). Be sure to NOT have your keys on you if you have the option that allows the door to unlock automatically when key is in close proximity.

My driver's rear door lock actuator failed, so I learned this the hard way

@blueline Thanks but not in the manual or hidden in the PCM options on either of mine. :(

@Velocity I’ll give that a shot. Thanks!

If nothing else I will get it done at next service.

That is perplexing. Please let us know when you get it sorted as it might (will) help others who have similar predicaments.

Also, thank you for the responses!

Are all your doors locking? Same happened here with my 12 Base. Found the driver's side rear door was not locking due to a failed actuator in the door that moves the locking mechanism. Replaced that and it locks all doors and beeps again.
