Would be interesting if this might spurn interest in the story of Porsche, though it would have a broader story of more than one very dynamic personality --- from Ferdinand Porsche to Ferdinand Piech to the current Porsche-Piech family. There is enough history they could make it into a Trilogy, ha!

The Porsche story would indeed be a great one, although it might lack some (much) of the fiery drama (and melodrama!) surrounding Enzo Ferrari.

Another article declaring the upcoming movie 'Ferrari' to be the best motorsports movie ever made, per Patrick Dempsey who is also one of the stars in the film. Time will tell, but I imagine it will be good. Michael Mann has directed some great, fun-to-watch movies. Based on a few pre-release reviews, I suspect this will be another of those.

I went to the theater yesterday and watched "Ferrari" the movie. It was excellent but also a very dark film, not unsurprising considering the subject was Enzo (always fiery and controversial) shown during a tough period (1957) of his life and of his company.

It was focused on Enzo at that time in his life: his wife, his mistress, his sons (one dead, one alive), the financial difficulties at Ferrari then, and the final Mille Miglia 1000-mile race, a race that killed two drivers in separate crashes, one being the Ferrari driver Portago and his co-driver/navigator Nelson. Nine spectators were also killed in the Ferrari crash.

Being directed and produced by the Michael Mann ("Heat", "Manhunter", "The Last of the Mohicans", etc.), ensured that it would not only be an extraordinarily and impeccably well-crafted film, but one that would also be on the dark side. Michael Mann films never lack precise visual details.

Although I am not hugely enthusiastic about modern Ferraris , old ones are glorious things, including one of my favourites, the Testa Rossa. I saw a few running one day at the Simeone Museum in Philadelphia:
