I've been chasing rattles forever it seems and I removed the passenger door panel and fixed some loose parts. After a while a new rattle started and feels like it could be the door or the dash and I'm having a real difficult time tracking it down.

Can I still drive my 992 with the door panel removed? I figure this would help eliminate the door panel as a cause of the rattle..

Not sure about driving without the door panel removed but I wouldn't think it would matter. Tom or others here will have a better answer.

Tom has a short video regarding creaking noises for 992's at the Carpokes YouTube channel. Maybe that will help.

There is also another short video at the Carpokes YouTube page on removing the door panel on a 992, although I realize that you already know how to do that.

I'm sure you can drive with the panel off, but my worry was about setting off a warning light on the dash and needing a dealer to turn it off. I don't know for sure that's possible, but I could see throwing a code for something (Lane Change Assist, PCM, etc.), so I didn't risk it myself. There is a quiet campaign to replace something in that front speaker grille -- they only do it if you complain -- so worth giving the dealer a call assuming they haven't tried a dozen times already and "can't replicate customer complaint" at this point. In addition to the speaker grille, check the wire harnesses in the door --they'd been known to rattle too-- and put foam tape on/around anything suspect. Also, like I mention in that video (with thanks to Tim for the plug), consider the sunroof for rattles too. Those squeaks drove me nuts because they were coming from above I could never figure out which direction they were coming from...

@Tom you motioned in your video above that the dealership replaced with an updated part? Can you tell us what the updated part was? I am having that rattle myself, so far is on the driver side door.

You aren't the first to ask. I'm due for servicing, so will ask my dealer for the part number. I posted it somewhere -- probably fb -- when it happened, but can't find that post or the paperwork now. Stay tuned, I'll get it.
