Hi all-
On our 2006 Cayman S (987.1, Tiptronic) there is a persistent error that shows up for a generator (alternator) fault. The alternator has been tested and is working to spec.
I have found other information online (but there's really not much out there!) that indicated seating one of the pins in one of the DME connectors might help to solve the issue. It took me a little bit to figure things out (where is the DME, how do I figure out which connector is which, etc.) but that did not help.
Idea 1: take a look at the other end of the connector that runs to the DME. As far as I can tell it's from the 2 pin connector on the alternator.
Background to Idea 2: Due to a potential issue with the torque converter, coming to a stop can sometimes cause the car to stall. Even when the car has only run for 2 minutes, restarting can be difficult and it feels like the battery is low. The battery is new, however, and maintained on a trickle charger.
Idea 2: Perusing the 997 hits that come up from a search on slow starts, there was an apparent problem with some of the positive battery cables in 987 and 997 cars. Apparently, the cable was crimped badly and allowed moisture in, which caused corrosion and trouble with hot starts. However! One of the other symptoms that was mentioned was that a generator fault could also appear when this is the case.
So, here's me asking for help: Is there a good DIY available for the 987 on replacing the positive battery cables? I believe that there are 2, one from the battery to a power distribution box, and one from the box to the starter (?).
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers and Thanks

I poked around a bit and don't see anything directly on point either. I may include this question/request in our next all-Carpokean newsletter to see if there is someone among our ranks who can help. Sometimes highlighting questions like this in front of the who community will draw out people who might otherwise miss it.

Thanks Tom, much appreciated. I'll dive in myself, as well, and if I can get myself to be good about the documentation, I'll make a DIY.
