I’m at a rally a few weeks ago everything is going great. Then the engine starts bogging down like bad gas or Mass air flow failure. Step on the gas and nothing, back off and it picks up again but we are going very slow. Get her to my mechanic and it’s pretty bad. Flywheel, clutch, you name it back there and it’s f’ed. Anyway get over the shock of the cost to fix all this and she feels amazing. Problem is now I don’t trust her, at all. I’ll get over this right?

You spent all the money to get her fixed and she is running sweet, so start building your trust back by first trusting your mechanic as it sounds like he did a good job. On the next trip treat her to a some scenic pictures that you can show all your friends here --- I bet she will feel appreciated , ha. We have all been there at some time or another, but the joy of driving your Porsche will soon have you forgetting about the fact that she needed a little tender loving care.

It is a mechanical piece of complex engineering . Things do fail/wear out . If it's running good go drive it . If after x amount of time you feel you lost the love then sell it .

Shortly after buying my 996 that had had a PPI and bore-scoping I came to find out that it indeed suffers from bore scoring and a moderate (600mi/qt) level of oil consumption. Since then I've become a regular philosopher. We drive it everywhere and if it breaks down then we get a rental car or plane tickets and do what we must with the Porsche even if it means rolling it into the ditch. (Well, not really.) In the mean time we enjoy driving the h*ll out of it.
