I'm in the process of changing out all my coolant hoses after another one failed on me. I bought this set (https://partworks.de/partworks/en/8162/ ... r-hose-set) which should've fit since I have a 1986 951.

Unfortunately, the lower radiator to waterpump hose (which failed on me) was wrong in this set. It's way too short. After getting the faulty hose out of the car, I checked it for a part number: 951 106 237 03

This is the hose:

This is seemingly the hose for a post 89 951. So for a late radiator model... This is interesting (and very frustrating at the moment) because the radiator drain plug is also blue in my car, but is not exactly as either one pictured here: https://944online.com/radiator-drain-plug/ I actually bought the black one before, and it didn't fit.

This is the plug in my car (I reused it):

Are there other tells to differentiate the early and late radiator? Will the other hoses from the partworks set fit my car? (I'm sure a few will fit from my visual inspection).

Another question is how can I get the hoses to slip on easier? I read silicone spray, but won't that foul the coolant system? Heat or boiling water will be difficult to access since the garage doesn't have access to neither.

The hose set pictured appears to be an assortment of hoses from the cooling system and the air intake system.

As far as I know, all 944 turbo's use the same lower hose, which is the same as the one you removed with a superseding part number of 95110623704. There are some ill-fitting after-market hoses out there. Maybe that is your issue? Or maybe the part seller is just confused. That hose in the kit they sell doesn't look like the right part at all. Here is the 951 lower hose, as sold by Pelican and listed for all 86-89 turbos...

See the 16:15 mark in this video from Edd China regarding how to get the hose to slip on easier. He recommends Red Rubber Grease...

Yeah they have the correct hose in their late model kit for the 250 HP version. I guess I should have checked the hose before I ordered the part.

I'm on the fence to order the hose... should I go for original Porsche or the URO hose? There's a "German" hose pelicanparts sells that has the same extra protective layer as the original (which the URO hose misses), but it's out of stock.

Thanks for the help.

Well... URO is notorious for selling some truly awful parts, and there have been reports of aftermarket hoses hitting the fan blades. On the other hand, for $12.95, maybe it's worth rolling the dice to see if it's any good. Although, the shipping and wasted time might be the bigger cost if the URO part lives up to its reputation. No idea what the "GERMAN" part is, other than a slightly more expensive gamble. If you decide to get the factory part, consider getting it from a dealer rather than Pelican. Pelican charges full retail for factory parts whereas many dealers, like Sunset, give pretty good discounts. For that hose, Pelican wants $168.25, whereas Sunset 'only' charges $129.03.

For a European source, consider Rose Passion. They ship very fast even to the US, and have pretty good pricing. Their price for that hose seems to be just slightly more than Sunset at today's exchange rates...

Thanks for the insight. Problem with rosepassion is that it's never clear whether you are buying original porsche or something else. The picture they have of the hose is exactly the URO hose, but with the price ticket of a Porsche hose.

Has RP sent you aftermarket parts when you expected the originals? I would hate to hear that's the case, but have no real basis to know. I've only ordered from them 3 or 4 times, and only for rare factory parts no one else seems to have (and for which there is no after market). That's one of the reasons I like Pelican -- they always tell you exactly what you are buying and how many are in stock and ready to ship. I ordered a part from Sierra Madre last year, even though it was a little more expensive than Pelican, because their website said it was in stock. I took several weeks to get, and when I called them it was clear they had to order it. Would have been faster and cheaper to order directly from a dealer. Not sure if that was an isolated incident, but I have not ordered from them since for that very reason.

Well they did send me new old stock intercooler pipe without telling me it was 40 years old and scratched up. I think I'll call the local porsche garage and inquire about the part on Monday.

I called and ordered the original porsche hose. It's about 140 euro. Thanks for the support!
