After inspecting a pretty bad coolant leak, I noticed my upper radiator hose (944 106 239 02) had been rubbing against a pulley wearing a groove/hole into the side of it. As I replace it, can I trust a Lindsey racing or hamburg technic part rather than oem? I’m also curious as to what these numbers and letters represent in the description

The numbers outlined in red are the break points in the production. In this case, the 01 hoses are used up to the 3439 and the 5517 VIN numbers; the 02 hoses are used in cars more recent than that.

Note that the D in the VIN is for 1983 models, so may not play a factor in your car.

As far as manufacturer, I have no opinion, but you will need to ensure that hoses are not in contact with pulleys. Sometimes rotating the hose a bit can avoid contact.

I ran into the same problem with a Uro radiator hose - it was intended as an oem replacement, but the length was longer, so the fan blades would hit it and eventually cause a leak.
Double check all moving part clearances and trim the hoses if it needed.

For what it's worth, I'm a big fan of Gates hoses. They have never given me a problem on other vehicles. Although I don't have them on the 944, yet. Like the others said, you have to watch how it lays when you clamp it down. A little rotation can go a long way.

Edit: I also would not hesitate with the LR hoses. Their parts have a proven record.

Yes, you can trust a Lindsey Racing or Hamburg Technic hose. They are high-quality aftermarket alternatives to OEM for Porsche 944s.

The numbers and letters (944 106 239 02) are the Porsche part number. 944 is the model, and the remaining digits identify that specific upper radiator hose.

I ended up purchasing a HT hose, so we will see when it gets here. Aside from the ports, is there anywhere it’s supposed to clamp on to help restrain it?
